Kaushaliya Vaghela is the Member of the Legislative Council for the Western Metropolitan Region in Victoria. She is part of the 59th Victorian Parliament and is a member of the Australian Labor Party. Kaushaliya is the first Indian-born Member of Parliament to be elected to the Victorian Parliament. Kaushaliya is also the first Indian-born Hindu to enter any Parliament in Australia.
Kaushaliya has had the privilege of working with many outstanding people and organisations throughout her career. Before being elected as a Member of Parliament, Kaushaliya was a Risk and Compliance Manager and prior to that as a scientist she has worked in the research and diagnostic laboratory.
