A newly expanded community centre for fast-growing Hoppers Crossing is open thanks to support from the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
Sarah Connolly MP, representing Minister for Local Government Shaun Leane, and joined by Kaushaliya Vaghela MP officially opened the new-look Grange Community Centre.
The expansion project received $1 million from the 2018-19 round of the Growing Suburbs Fund, which supports the creation of community connections, enhanced services, and provides greater opportunities at the local level.
The Grange Community Centre is a popular venue for childcare, playgroups, maternal and child health services, workshops and gatherings. The Centre’s older building had been struggling to keep up with the increasing demand of the growing Hoppers Crossing community.
The Centre now has three new multi-purpose community rooms for its range of services, alongside a landscaped outdoor area with playground, sheltered seating and picnic tables.
The Growing Suburbs Fund is a $325 million investment over six years in critical local infrastructure in Melbourne’s diverse and fast-growing outer suburbs.
Since 2015, Wyndham City Council has received more than $27.5 million in funding to support the delivery of 20 priority projects.
